Madrid Street Photography
Shot mostly in Madrid — probably my favourite European city. Unlike London, where the people you see rarely live there and have little visible investment in the place, Madrileños actually inhabit their city and carry themselves accordingly. The streets, bars and squares of Malasaña in particular reward anyone willing to sit quietly and wait.
Many of these photographs were taken with a 45mm f/1.8 Olympus lens — a 90mm full-frame equivalent — which compresses the distance between photographer and subject in a way that suits candid portraiture. It was part of a longer journey towards the Olympus 75mm f/1.8, which remains the preferred lens for this kind of work.
Photographs in this album include: The wolf, He missed me, Don’t look now, The life, The eye, The look, The Don, Success, The street madonna, I think you mean me, and more — including the Malasaña Portraits series and candid scenes from around the city.
