Golden Gate from Baker Beach
A hand-held long exposure shot at 1.3 seconds, taken on the Olympus E-M1ii. The Golden Gate Bridge runs north-south, so the sun sets on the western side. Unfortunately the San Francisco Presidio coastline runs pretty much due south from the base of the bridge and is quite inaccessible for the first mile or so. Baker Beach is the nearest point where you can get a view of the bridge with the sea in front of it from the western side. It's a magnificent beach in its own right and well worth a visit. This time, the sunset was not impressive, but we waited until the sun went down and we got into twilight. When the lights on the bridge came up we got these impressive reflections in the receding waves on the beach. You only get the reflections when there's a thin layer of water on the beach and only at a particular angle and only with a long exposure, so it's not a common photograph to see.
