Malachite Butterfly Displaying Wing Underside on Pink Flowers

A Malachite butterfly rests with its wings closed among pink pentas flowers at La Paz Waterfall Gardens in Costa Rica. From this side, pale green patches are bordered by ochre and brown, a markedly different appearance from its darker upper wings. The dark background isolates the butterfly and the small star-shaped flowers.
