White-necked Jacobin Approaching a Heliconia Bloom

A male White-necked Jacobin approaches a red heliconia bloom at Dave & Dave's Nature Pavilion in Sarapiquí, Costa Rica. In this frame its body hangs almost vertically, with one wing spread wide across the green background and its bill pointed toward the small flowers. The separated feathers and hanging feet show a different instant in the hummingbird's approach.
