King Vulture Spreading Its Wings at a Forest Feeding Station

A King Vulture stands on a broken branch with both wings raised at a forest feeding station at Pierella Garden in Costa Rica. The wide V-shape reveals its white underwings and black flight feathers, while its red, orange and black bare head turns toward the food on a neighbouring branch. Its feet remain firmly on the perch as the wings reach upward.
