Blue-Gray and Palm Tanagers Interacting on a Branch at Adolfo’s Gardens

An action photograph captures a dynamic territorial interaction between a blue-gray tanager (Tangara episcopus) and a palm tanager (Thraupis palmarum) on a mossy branch at Adolfo's Gardens in Boca Tapada. The blue-gray tanager is frozen mid-flap on the left with its light cerulean wings raised, facing the dull olive-green palm tanager on the right, which has its beak open in a defensive display. The fast shutter speed stops the motion sharply against a blurred natural green forest backdrop.
