Male White-Necked Jacobin Hummingbird Hovering Beneath Red Hibiscus

An action close-up photograph captures a male white-necked jacobin (Florisuga mellivora) hummingbird hovering directly underneath a hanging red sleeping hibiscus (Malvaviscus arboreus) blossom at Adolfo's Gardens in Boca Tapada. The high-speed sync multi-flash setup freezes the bird at a steep vertical angle with its wings raised up and its broad white tail feathers fanned out widely. The hummingbird's iridescent blue hood and vibrant green back stand out against a solid green background.
