Female Green-Crowned Brilliant Hummingbird Hovering with Its Tongue Extended

A female green-crowned brilliant (Heliodoxa jacula) hovers in profile at Adolfo's Gardens in Boca Tapada, Costa Rica, with its tongue extended beyond its bill. Its wings are open in flight, and part of a red torch ginger flower appears at the edge of the frame. High-speed sync multi-flash freezes the moment.
