Male Black-Crested Coquette Hummingbird Hovering by Purple Porterweed at Edward’s Garden

An action close-up photograph captures a male black-crested coquette hummingbird hovering in mid-flight next to a flowering spike of purple porterweed (Stachytarpheta frantzii) at Edward's Garden in Boca Tapada. The tiny hummingbird is captured from a rear-profile view with its dark wings swept backward, showcasing its distinctive elongated, thin black crest spikes projecting from its crown and a white band across its lower back. The bird reaches forward with its slender bill toward the vibrant purple blossoms, set against a dark background of blurred forest vegetation.
