Fiery Sunset over the Ridges of Arenal

Orange-red light fills the sky behind overlapping ridges near Lake Arenal, Costa Rica. Wind turbines trace the far horizon above a darker, tree-lined slope, and foreground foliage falls into silhouette. Seen from the Arenal Observatory Lodge area, the strong colour and the near-black layers give this sunset its simple graphic shape. The OM-1 Mark II and 50-200mm f/2.8 lens with the MC-14 teleconverter were used at 251mm, 1/200 sec, f/9 and ISO 800; the long focal length compresses the distant ridges and turbines into a narrow band.
