The papal rep cometh

The Galle Face Hote,l where we started our trip is a centre for many gatherings of the great and good. On our first day we were surprised to see a very substantial marching band assemble, which we felt was a bit too much given we were only staying afew days. It turned out that the Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican’s Foreign Minister was being received by the pious and wealthy of Colombo and the event was pretty huge. There was much to admire, particularly the marching band, the very well turned out school captains, and the ethnic tribes chaps.
